Cecabank consolidates its commitment to Spainsif and corporate responsibility

13 March 2017
  • The new website includes an investment funds platform with sustainability criteria
  • Cecabank has recently joined Forética, DIRSE, and the Global Compact

Cecabank is sponsoring the new Spainsif website, presented today at the bank's headquarters. Spainsif is a non-profit organisation that promotes Socially Responsible Investment (SRI), encouraging corporate responsibility and the integration of environmental, social and good corporate governance criteria through dialogue between different groups.

Inés García-Pintos Balbás, Head of CSR and Innovation at Cecabank and Jaime Silos Leal, chairman of Spainsif, participated in the launch ceremony that took place in Madrid. According to Pintos, "this support is yet another sign of our commitment to Spainsif. It also shows Cecabank's interest in promoting socially responsible investment in the Spanish market."

Spainsif is made up of 58 members. These include financial institutions and managers, and ISR service providers. They also include trade unions and non-profit organisations linked to this area.

Cecabank's involvement in the project is one of many activities in recent weeks. Others include the company's adherence to the United Nations Global Compact, Forética and DIRSE (the Spanish Association of Social Responsibility Managers).

Cecabank is reasserting its commitment to incorporate social, environmental, good governance, and corporate responsibility standards into its activities. All of this is in line with its integrity values. It also aligns with the specialisation on which the company is based.

DIRSE, Forética, and Global Compact, with corporate responsibility

DIRSE is a Spanish association of Social Responsibility professionals comprised of more than 200 members. The aim of this association is to help the development of CSR executives and professionals. It also helps to improve their capacity to influence the creation of value in organisations.

Forética is an association of companies and professionals operating in Spain and Latin America in CSR and sustainability. Its mission is to promote the integration of social, environmental, and good governance values in the strategies and management of companies and organisations. More than 200 members comprise Forética, which also owns the Standard SGE 21: the first social responsibility management system that enables certification to be voluntarily gained.

Lastly, the United Nations Global Compact is an international initiative that promotes the implementation of 10 universally accepted principles to promote CSR in the areas of human and business rights, employment regulations, the environment, and the fight against corruption, in companies' activities and business strategies. With more than 13,000 companies in more than 145 countries, it is the largest voluntary CSR initiative in the world.

By actively participating in these associations, Cecabank goes a step further in its determination to apply the most robust socially responsible regulations in the field of business, both on a national and international level.
